Super Bowl Winner Revealed: Strat-O-Matic & Chicago Sports Stuff Run the Ultimate Simulation
We're two days away from an epic clash between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles, but we know who's going to win. And the score. And the MVP.
HERE WE ARE, a month into our partnership with the fine folks at Strat-O-Matic, and to this point, our game simulations have been of the past vs. present variety, and all of them have involved Chicago teams.
Not today.
Not sure if you heard, but there’s a semi-big football game on Sunday, a contest that sees the Kansas City Chiefs attempting to get all dynastic, and the Philadelphia Eagles attempting to win their first Super Bowl since the days of the Philly Special.
So we decided, Who needs another week of Chicago weirdness when we can find out who’ll hoist the Lombard Trophy on Sunday?
Spoiler alert: The final score, the stats, and the game script will be of zero surprise to anybody.
SOME NOTES before we get to the stats and score:
Nobody who watched Super Bowl LVII back in 2023 will be shocked that this one will be a nail-biter. (If you’ll recall, last time these two budding rivals met in The Big Game, Patrick Mahomes went nuts in the fourth quarter, giving the Chiefs a thrilling 38-35 last-gasp W.)
A handful of very good players will have very meh games.
A couple of very on-the-D.L. players will have very good games.
The margin of victory will be identical to that of the previous K.C./Philly Super Bowl rumble.
You’re way intrigued, right? As am I. So let’s get to the good stuff.
SOME TAKEAWAYS in terms of individual performances:
K.C. QB Patrick Mahomes will do Patrick Mahomes things and rack up 368 all-purpose yards.
Philly signal caller Jalen Hurts won’t do Jalen Hurts things, and manage to compile just 249 total yards.
The Chiefs’ defense will hold world-beating Eagles running back Saquon Barkley to 87 yards on the ground.
No receiver will top 79 yards.
Both starting tight ends — K.C.’s Travis Kelce and Philadelphia’s Dallas Goedert — will go off.
Kendrick Lamar will deliver the best halftime show of the decade.
THE FINAL SCORE OF SUPER BOWL LIX:
KANSAS CITY: 30
PHILADELPHA: 27
MVP: Patrick Mahomes
If it indeed plays out like this, we’ll all have one helluva Sunday. Enjoy the game!
